I liked how Sherratt gives you the viewpoint from the “other side” in between Grace’s chapters. The plot is fast paced and kept my interest. She is trying to feel her way along in her relationship with Simon, a journalist. Sherratt does an excellent job of portraying her friends, the way they ping from sorrow to self centeredness in a matter of seconds, the hormones and the sudden outbursts. The storyline here is especially poignant as the murder victim is a 16 year old girl. I feel like I know Stoke on Trent after reading her descriptions. Not just her ability to create great characters, but also the ability to set a scene. Mel Sherratt has been a long time favorite of mine. My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.more Having said that I will still be looking out for further books in this series.
